Stopgap has worked with Jilly for over a year having placed her in two roles with valued clients both in events management roles.

Stopgap are delighted to have recently place Jilly Clark at the National Trust as their Marketing & Events Coordinator. In the course of her role, Jilly recently managed the National Trust Heritage Awards announcement ceremony – the largest event she has managed to date in her career.

When we heard that Jilly was going to be sponsored by the National Trust NSW we were so excited for her and thrilled to know that we were able to play a small part in this. 

We caught up with Jilly recently to offer our congratulations and ask her a few questions regarding her current role and to hear firsthand how she found the Stopgap recruitment experience.

What have you been able to achieve in your career/job since working with Stopgap?

At my current role I project managed my largest event in my eight years of planning events; the 2019 National Trust Heritage Awards Ceremony. I've also project managed the build of an app in less than three weeks at TAFE and the trickiest campaign I've ever had was project managing state-wide the 2019 career guide remotely from the middle of rural QLD when I was doing my farm work!

How would you describe your experience working with Hils & Stopgap?

My friend recommended Stopgap when I first arrived in Sydney from the UK and from the very first phone call the whole team were a pleasure to deal - friendly, helpful & professional. Hilary's the best recruiter I've ever worked with and I was in contact with a few when I first moved over here; I'd often be receiving calls from her with possible JD's that matched what I told her I was looking for, and always so lovely on the phone - I'd often forget I wasn't chatting to a friend back home!

What has exceeded your expectations since working with Hils & Stopgap?

I'd never really rated working with a recruiter; I'm used to them usually dropping off the face of the earth after the initial meeting and one or two poorly matched jobs sent my way, but Stopgap have definitely made me realise how valuable some agencies can be. My manager and I were just chatting about Stopgap in the kitchen yesterday, sharing one of the donuts they sent me in a 'congratulations' parcel, and she said she would have skimmed over my CV if it wasn't for what Hilary said about me and my proven ability/ hard-working ethos in my previous role which she placed me in at TAFE. My manager said if it wasn't for Hilary's confidence that I'd be a great fit for the job and could handle the size of the project she probably wouldn't have interviewed me, fast forward six months I've gone from a part-time three day a week role to a full-time permanent position - I couldn't be happier!
