Claire set up Stopgap with a simple vision - to be a recruitment consultancy that people wanted to work with and work for. Stopgap have stayed true to our principle of being a candidate centric business - getting to know them as the real people they are and not merely a commodity to place into an empty vacancy.
Having done a degree in Business Studies, she spent six years working in sales promotion for various London agencies before her employer went into administration and she found herself without a job.
With no recruitment experience whatsoever, but simply a strong desire to challenge the recruitment industry’s reputation for bad practice and poor candidate care, Claire decided to set up Stopgap's first office in the U.K. in 1993. Following a successful period of growth, she then decided to open a second office here in Sydney Australia in 2000 and hasn't looked back since!
