Media Relations Manager

THE COMPANY:

Our client is a well known department in the NSW Government and responsible for financial management policy & reporting. They are looking for a Media Relations Manager.

THE ROLE:

Working with Senior Executives the Media Relations Manager's main responsibilities include the following:

• Develop the media relations strategy - including execution across both proactive and reactive media and providing advice on media issues
• Manage proactive media - including media opportunities, conference participation, speaking opportunities, earned media, social media, media events, and securing of awards and recognition
• Deliver a high impact/high volume media service by working closely with internal stakeholders
• Drive reactive media relations, including crisis and reputation management
• Build and manage ongoing relationships with relevant members of the state, national and financial media
• Develop media and communication content and materials, including media releases, talking points, opinion pieces, briefs and speeches
• Lead a small team and ensure critical deadlines are met

YOU:

• The ideal candiate will have at least 10+ years experience in a similar role preferably from the Government sector or professional services
• Experience working with the media is essential
• Strong communication skills are a must and previous experience of managing a team
